Pearson 40 with Beta 50 engine, Borg Warner Velvet Drive 1:1 ratio hydraulic transmission, and Walters V drive. This engine provides PLENTY of power for this boat. We suggest the Beta 43 as being ideal for the Pearson 40.

As with any V drive installation, the transmission faces the bow. The vent loop [ tan colored part to left of centerline ] was later moved to the correct location, which must be 2 feet above the static waterline.

All Beta Marine engines from the Beta 28 and larger, can be ordered with a Velvet Drive "kit". This kit will allow the installation of a Velvet Drive transmission, and includes a new transmission oil cooler.
