The available
engine
range is 10 through NEW 90 horsepower.Larger
isuzu Norpro diesel propulsion engines. All Beta Marine
engines are
fresh-water cooled, naturally aspirated [non-turbocharged]. Several
makes and types of transmissions, with assorted reduction ratios, are
also available to suit most any vessel.
Several Beta Marine diesel engines are available to replace the Atomic
4 gasoline engine depending upon the vessel's displacement. General
marine engine guidelines & rule of thumb for displacement hulls

- Boats displacing up to 7,500 pounds may use the
Beta
Ten engine.

The above replacement diesel marine kubota engines are available with
Atomic 4
engine
mount spacing at no additional cost. This precludes the need to modify
the engine bed or stringers to accomodate the new diesel kubota engine.
Obviously, this saves much
time and expense. Beta Marine has the only
Atomic 4 replacement diesel kubota engine line with this terrific
feature.
Low maintenance and repair cost is another advantage of Beta Marine
diesels, as engine parts are available worldwide at any Kubota farm
tractor dealer. Check your yellow pages for a nearby dealer. You will
pay "tractor" prices, not "Marine" parts prices. The savings can be
considerable, especially when compared to Beta Marine's competition!
Also, Beta Marine is happy to supply anyone with part numbers for
routine maintenance parts, so you can shop locally for your best deal
on Wix, Napa, or Kubota lube oil filters, fuel filters, V belts, air
filter, zincs, Jabsco impellers, etc.
Beta Marine recognized the oil change problem years ago, and supplies
all their kubota diesel engines [optional on the Beta Ten engine] with
a manual oil
change pump mounted on the engine and plumbed to the low point of the
oil pan. To perform an oil change, just open the valve at the base of
the pump, remove a small cap at the pump discharge, and operate the
pump with one hand. Unlike the cheap hand pumps we are all familiar
with [and disdain] the Beta Marine pump is all brass, high quality,
works easily and very efficiently. I install a piece of clear hose over
the discharge pipe and lead it to a sludge bucket.
To finish the oil change, just close the valve, replace the cap, change
the filter, and add new oil to the engine. This setup actually makes
oil changes fun!

designs and builds ultra-compact small marine diesel generators using
small
kubota engines of 3.5KW and
5.5KW capacity. SMD is the only dealer in Connecticut that has these

Wolverine engine

Sound Marine Diesel, LLC is a Wolverine engine heater dealer.
Wolverine engine heaters provide the following benefits:
- Improve crankability, particularily during cold
weather. This means less wear and tear on the engine starter and
batteries, and quicker engine starts.
- Reduce cold start wear, by ensuring oil easily
and
quickly flows to the engine bearings during startup. Oil pressure
builds rapidly, since there is minimal flow resistance. This feature
alone, will save you money and expensive engine repairs.
- Reduce acid and water accumulation, by keeping
the
oil warm.
- Reduce white exhaust smoke at startup, by
helping to
maintain engine compression, which leads to more complete fuel
combustion, and reduced blow-by.
- Helps to get the engine to operating
temperature
faster, since the oil is already warmed, and thereby reducing engine
wear.
The bottom line - Wolverine heaters will prolong the life of your
expensive engine, while maintaining engine performance and greatly
reducing wear. They are cheap insurance, that saves you money!
Wolverine heaters are 120 volt AC powered, [240 volt powered are also
available] and cost little to operate. After installation, just plug
into shore power, and the heater immediatly starts to warm the engine.
Think of it as placing your engine on a stove. As heat rises, the
entire engine becomes warm, leading to the above benefits.
All Wolverine heaters have the heating element embedded in a pliable
silicone pad, that's .075 inch thick.
Unlike conventional engine block heaters, Wolverine heaters attach
externally to the engine oil pan, without any need to drain coolant
from the engine or remove a freeze plug.
Installation is straightforward. Just clean the engine oil pan bottom
of any accumulated oil, sand to clean metal, and apply the self stick
heating pad. Now plug in to shore power to keep your engine warm; ready
for a quick startup. There is no maintenance required.
Wolverine heaters are available in 5 models, to fit a wide variety of
engines, as determined by the oil pan capacity.

In January 1986 Tom and Anne Mondelci established
Northeast Isuzu Engines/Norpro. Mr. Mondelci had introduced Isuzu
diesel engines five years earlier and was now setting up a company
whose sole purpose was to distribute Isuzu diesel products to the
Northeastern United States.
Norpro quickly became recognized as one
of the leading distributors of Isuzu diesel products in the United
States. Norpro’s growth and recognition were due to Norpro’s core
belief in exceptional customer service and satisfaction, and in the
selling of outstanding products- Isuzu diesel engines. Norpro grew very
rapidly and in 1988 Mr. Mondelci began designing and manufacturing
generators under the Norpro trademark. Norpro’s philosophy was simple:
